WOMEN MEASUREMENT

Always wear the foundation garments you will be wearing under the garment you want to construct when you take your bust or hip measurement.

When taking your hip or bust measurement, tape should be pulled just barely snug.

BUST MEASUREMENT:

Measure from amprit to amprit across the broadest part of the back and then bring tape measure directly across the point of the bust. (See Fig. 1-a)

Note: using this measurement system, your bust measurement will increase appreciably. This is normal.

Note: If your bust measurement is not larger than you have normally been obtaining, you have not taken the measurement correctly.

HIP MEASUREMENT:

Find largest measurement below waistline. (See Fig. 1-b)

Measure as follow for your various types of garments:

Dresses, blouse and skirsts: measure over foundation garments.

Jacket and vests (top): Measure over a sleeved blouse.

Overblouse, jacket, tunic, vest (bottom): Measure over a skirt or pants.

Coat: Measure over a jacket for the top.

Measure over a skirt for the bottom.

Allow extra room if you are lining a garment by using a larger size than for an unlined garment.
